Olympic-sized Ringorang

DCL and Vergence Entertainment go for the gaming gold.

GLENDALE, CA – It’s a global event that happens every four years, pitting nations against one another in the name of worldwide pride. But in its inaugural year, the Athens Summer Olympiad of 1865 unveiled a field of 241 athletes from 14 different nations. A far cry from the 204 nations that will supply 11,208 athletes during 2008’s rendition, which will be held in Beijing, China.

But everyone has to start somewhere. And as far as Vergence Entertainment is concerned, they’d love nothing more than for Ringorang, the 24-hour trivia game that plays you five days a week, to grow like the Olympics have.

A simple, yet revolutionary concept, Ringorang aims to change the face of trivia by basing questions on everything from traditional topics to calendar-related themes, which will be delivered arbitrarily, once every hour.

Made possible by the creation of R-TIME technology (Real-Time Immediated Mass Engagement), Vergence Entertainment’s proprietary technology enables Ringorang to send these questions to all of its subscribers, simultaneously. So instead of a game that waits to be played, Ringorang is actually playing you - and everyone else - in real time.

Which means it really helps to think quickly while playing. Because whoever answers the quickest accumulates the most Dallions, also known as Ringorang’s currency. And whoever accumlates the most Dallions at the end of every week wins a coveted prize, ranging from an iPod Touch to gift certificates for leading consumer websites. But not to be forgotten, the top ten finishers also win Ringorang swag. Which is a prize in and of itself.

“If you know anything about the Olympics, past and upcoming, you’ve got a great chance at winning the inaugural week’s top prize,” said DCL Marketress, Brandi Sweeney.

Ringorang has decided to call this week’s game the Ringolympics. Featuring questions from the Athens Games of 1865 to the excitement that’s bound to surround Beijing, the Ringolympics is set to put the world’s finest athletes and their memorable moments on a trivial pedestal.

“As far as the overall game is concerned,” Sweeney continued, “Ringorang’s launch will move through three stages. First, Ringorang will launch as a browser. Next, Vergence will introduce Adobe Air, which will allow the game to live on your desktop. And finally, the unearthing of a Ringorang widget will make the interactive trivia game available for cell phones. The world doesn’t know what’s coming – but they will.”

Dreamentia Creative Laboratories, a Los Angeles-based creative agency, has been one of the game’s key contributors since its early stages. Along with designing the Ringolympics game, Dreamentia has also become a pivotal player in Ringorang’s overall development.

Development for a game that’s ready to go global.
